Memorial Day at the Symphony!

Tyler and I met up with Emily and her family on Sunday for a free concert on the lawn in front of Union Station. The Kansas City Symphony played some patriotic tunes while adorable children danced around with flags — very picturesque. There were fireworks afterwards, as well as cannon blasts during the 1812 Overture.  Tyler and I are trying our hand at "free" things this summer, and we've found that it's not that hard! There are free movies at least three times a week starting in June, plus free concerts at Legends Mall. We'll see how long we can keep from spending money...

An adorable girl was dancing in front of the symphony. The bad photojournalist in me did not get her name, but she was fun to photograph.

I've never noticed this fountain in front of Union Station, but it was really gorgeous in the sunset.

Another cute girl waves her flag while standing on the fountain in front of Union Station.

I was really excited to photograph fireworks at this show. The Liberty Memorial is a little bit shaky (I didn't have a tripod), but I still think it turned out alright.
